Then do a `lsattr’ on the file. It will probably display either an`X’ flag or a `*’ at the place you would have expectedc (depending on your version of lsattr). One way tore-enable automatic decompression is to do `chattr -X’ on the file.(The `X’ flag will be removed from e2compr at some future point.)

If this is not the case then it is probably a bug in e2compr, and shouldbe reported to the e2compr list (e2compr@opensource.captech.com). (I(pjm) have already found and corrected two or three such bugs, so theremay be more.)
