The main thing to be done is for e2fsck to have better ability to fix ext2-compression-caused problems.

E.g. if you switch your computer off between writing some compressed blocks and writing to the inode, then e2fsck should be ableto detect and correct the problem.

Please don’t write to people asking about adding ext2 compression to thestandard kernel (unless you’re working on e2fsprogs). This prerequisite was given by Ted Ts’o (one of the ext2 maintainers), and I think it theright decision.

This chapter contains explanations for some concepts and terms that someusers may not have encountered.

If you are an experienced Unix user then you probably don’t need toread this chapter.

If you’re looking for an explanation of an e2compr-specific term, thenyou should probably look at section E2compr implementation.
