Wed, 30 Aug 2000 14:37:04 +0200Hello,I’m trying to set up simple bridge that will connect one computer through the bridge to network.I use a Linux box with two ethernet cards (eth0 , eth1 both Realtek working on the RTL8139 driver) in order to set up the bridge.it look something like this: |- eth0 — connected to the rest of networkbr0 -| |- eth1 — connected to another Linux box (the computer name is dire)According to my understanding, dire should be connected to eth1 using crosslink cable .After setting up the above I expect to be able to ping from dire to the rest of the net.The ping request fails.I can not see ARP request from dire when using tcpdump over both eth0 and eth1.I still trying to find something in list archives but its not seem that somebody here have so simple questions.Any ideas ?Bellow bridge configuration and ifconfig output.[root@tull ilya]# brctl showbr br0br0 bridge id 8000.0000e89f4354 designated root 8000.0000e89f4354 root port 0 path cost 0 max age 20.00 bridge max age 20.00 hello time 2.00 bridge hello time 2.00 forward delay 15.00 bridge forward delay 15.00 ageing time 300.00 gc interval 4.00 hello timer 0.53 tcn timer 0.00 topology change timer 0.00 gc timer 2.59 flagseth0 (1) port id 8001 state forwarding designated root 8000.0000e89f4354 path cost 100 designated bridge 8000.0000e89f4354 message age timer 0.00 designated port 8001 forward delay timer 0.00 designated cost 0 hold timer 0.53 flagseth1 (2) port id 8002 state forwarding designated root 8000.0000e89f4354 path cost 100 designated bridge 8000.0000e89f4354 message age timer 0.00 designated port 8002 forward delay timer 0.00 designated cost 0 hold timer 0.53 flags[root@tull ilya]# ifconfigbr0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:E8:9F:43:54 inet addr:199.204.71.54 Bcast:199.204.71.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:89339 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:94787 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:E8:9F:48:A6 UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:376860 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 Interrupt:11 Base address:0xe400eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:E8:9F:43:54 UP BROADCAST RUNNING PROMISC MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:1525268 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:137468 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:34801 txqueuelen:100 Interrupt:10 Base address:0xe800lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3924 Metric:1 RX packets:53 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:53 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0Regards Ilya.
